Michaela Runkle is a domestic violence survivor who started writing memoirs about her experience which ended up becoming a book called Dear World. She had trouble finding relatable resources to help her cope and recover mentally from the incident so her goal with Dear World is to be open and tell her story to let other young survivors know that there’s someone who understands what they’re going through and that they’re not alone.
In episode 34, Michaela told us her story, spoke about both the good and the bad of how her friends and family reacted when she told them that she had been a victim of domestic violence, and spoke on the mechanisms that she’s put in place to help her move past the incident and feel confident and strong.
In this episode, you’ll hear Michaela speak about her experience as a professor at IUPUI and what she’s learned from that, her lifting journey and how it’s helped her, and her definition of success.
