Courtney & Derek Guggenberger (Gugg) started Guggman Haus Brewing alongside Courtney’s twin sister Abby Gorman (man) and her husband Ryan after the couples each had their own unique craft beer experiences and decided they wanted to start a brewery of their own. After 5 years of careful planning and experimental brewing in Abby and Ryan’s basement, they opened for business in May 2019 and ended up being the only brewery to win 3 gold medals at the Indiana Brewer’s Cup. Not only does the brewery have a great story based on the family’s background, but the building and property has a rich history itself as the former Boyle Racing Headquarters in the 1930s and 1940s.
In episode 30, Courtney & Derek told the story about where the idea for Guggman Haus came from, told the story behind the property that the brewery sits on and why it’s special to Indianapolis, and told us about some of the more intimate details about the brewery that you might not know without asking.
