That's Warren Central Boys' High School Basketball Head Coach Garrett Winegar's motto.
He’s responsible for helping to shape the lives’ of teenagers and he believes in practicing what he preaches and leading by example. His hard work paid off for him in a big way when the administration at one of the largest high schools in Indiana hired him as the head boys’ basketball coach at the age of 27 after he spent 3 years as an assistant coach where he got to experience an undefeated season that ended in a state championship.
In the first half of this episode, you’ll hear Garrett talk about his coaching philosophy and how he tries to relate basketball to life for his players, some of the challenges and advantages that he sees for himself as a young coach, and how he found his passion for coaching basketball in the first place.
In the second half, you’ll hear him talk about some advice he has for young coaches as well as student athletes, some habits and things he focuses on to be successful, and his definition of success.
